OVAL Executive Director/Curator
Ms. McClellan is the Executive Director/Curator of the Ohio Valley Art League. OVAL was established in 1991 under her leadership. Jule McClellan has worked over twenty-five years in public relations, in leadership roles, fund raising and program development. Many programs have been created by Ms. McClellan, including; the first public sculpture placed in Henderson, the biennial Kentucky National Wildlife Art exhibit, spearheaded the year-long 200 anniversary celebration of John James Audubon’s landing in Henderson and the Women’s Honor Court, a park created to pay tribute to women. These are a few of the many programs she promoted and developed.
Ms. McClellan’s program development skills are evident in the visual arts program written and implemented under the KERA system for kindergarden through sixth grade students that she taught for five years. She also taught the program to Henderson County fourth grade gifted and talented for two years.
Ms. McClellan is an artist, whose work has received numerous awards. Her painting, titled “2:30 p.m.- Taking A Break”, was one of 132 selected from over 4000 entries for inclusion in the BEST of WATERCOLOR SERIES – PAINTING LIGHT & SHADOW published by Rockport Publishers, Rockport, MA.
Ms. McClellan was the recipient of the 1999 Community Service Award, presented by the DAR, for her work in the arts. Ms. McClellan was selected as a “Home Town Hero”, by the Gleaner Newspaper in 2002, for her service to the visual arts.
